The former New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream is no longer open to new applicants. It has been replaced by the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream, a business immigration pathway under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP).
The New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream is designed for experienced entrepreneurs who are ready to establish, operate, and actively manage a business while living and settling permanently in New Brunswick. It is not a passive investment program. Applicants must demonstrate business experience, financial capacity, a viable business concept, and a genuine intention to live and operate a business in New Brunswick.

New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream - Key Requirements
The NB Business Immigration Stream is for experienced entrepreneurs who want to establish, purchase, or operate a business in New Brunswick.
Typical requirements:
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Intention to live permanently in New Brunswick
- Active day-to-day management of the business
- Relevant business ownership or senior management experience
- Minimum language proficiency of CLB/NCLC 5
- Minimum eligible business investment of CAD $150,000
- Control of at least 33.3% equity in the New Brunswick business
- A viable business concept or business plan
- Sufficient financial capacity to establish and operate the business
- Ability to create economic benefit for New Brunswick
The current official guide confirms that applicants must make an eligible investment of at least CAD $150,000 before tax, excluding personal-use purchases such as a principal residence and motor vehicles, and must control at least 33.3% equity in the business.
Active Management Requirement
New Brunswick business immigration requires real business operation. The applicant must actively manage the business and live in New Brunswick.
A strong application should show: The applicant's direct role in daily operations; relevant business ownership or senior management experience; a practical investment plan; a credible source of funds; local market research; why New Brunswick is suitable for the business; how the business will contribute to the province; genuine settlement intention in New Brunswick.
Business Operation Before Nomination
New Brunswick's current Business Immigration Stream is performance-based. Applicants are expected to establish and operate the business before nomination. The official New Brunswick page states that applicants can now submit a request for nomination if the business has been operating for 6 consecutive months. This is an important update because it makes the business-operation stage central to the permanent residence strategy.
Eligible Business Investment
The minimum eligible investment is CAD $150,000 before tax. The investment must come from the applicant's personal net worth and must be used for eligible business purposes. Eligible investment may include business-related costs such as business premises, equipment, inventory, leasehold improvements, professional services, marketing, and other costs directly connected to establishing or operating the business. Personal-use purchases, such as a principal residence or personal vehicles, are not counted as eligible business investment.
New Brunswick Business Immigration Process
Step 1 - Eligibility and Business Concept: Review eligibility, business background, language ability, investment capacity, and proposed business concept.
Step 2 - Expression of Interest: Submit an Expression of Interest to be considered under the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream.
Step 3 - Invitation to Apply: If selected, the applicant may receive an invitation to submit a full application.
Step 4 - Application and Business Plan: Submit provincial forms, supporting documents, financial evidence, and a detailed business plan.
Step 5 - Work Permit and Business Establishment: If approved, support to apply for a work permit, move to New Brunswick, and establish or purchase the business.
Step 6 - Business Operation: The applicant actively manages and operates the business in New Brunswick and works toward meeting program conditions.
Step 7 - Nomination and Permanent Residence: After meeting the required business-operation conditions, including the required period of business operation, the applicant may request nomination and then apply to IRCC for permanent residence.
