Why NOC classification matters

Your NOC code determines whether your work experience qualifies for Express Entry, which streams you can apply under, your CRS bracket, and which category-based draws (healthcare, STEM, trades, French-speaking, transport, agri-food) you may be invited in. Picking the wrong NOC is one of the most common reasons for refusal.

The reference letter from your employer must use duty statements that mirror the lead statement and main duties of the chosen NOC — not just the job title. We re-verify NOC classification for every Express Entry / PNP client we represent.
