Immigrate to Canada from India
India is the single largest source country for Canadian immigration. Indian nationals receive the largest share of Express Entry ITAs each year — they make up 46% of every Express Entry permanent resident admitted since 2015 (see the live data dashboard) — and Indian students make up the largest cohort of international students at Canadian designated learning institutions. The Indo-Canadian community is established across Toronto's Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough; Greater Vancouver's Surrey and Burnaby; Calgary's NE; Edmonton; and increasingly Atlantic Canada.
Indian applicants succeed through almost every Canadian immigration pathway — Express Entry FSW for IT and engineering professionals, the OINP Tech Draw and BC PNP Tech for software developers and adjacent occupations, the Student Direct Stream (SDS) for international students, Spousal Sponsorship from across India, and the Super Visa for parents and grandparents. The volume of Indian files at the New Delhi visa office means processing patterns are well-understood — and so are the failure modes.
Halani Immigration Services Inc. (RCIC-IRB R711322) works extensively with clients across India's largest population centres, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Surat, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Nagpur, Indore, Thane, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Patna, Vadodara, Ghaziabad, Ludhiana, Agra, Nashik, Faridabad, Meerut, Rajkot, Kalyan-Dombivli, Vasai-Virar, and Varanasi, plus Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and the wider Punjab region. We work in English, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, and Katchi, and we know exactly what officers at IRCC New Delhi look for in different application types.
Top immigration pathways from India
The pathways below are the ones we most commonly use for clients moving from India to Canada. Each links to a detailed service page.
Express Entry — FSW & CEC
The dominant PR pathway for Indian skilled workers. We optimize CRS, manage NOC TEER classification, and prepare a clean post-ITA eAPR within the 60-day window.

OINP Tech Draw is by far the most common nomination route for Indian software professionals. BC PNP High Economic Impact and Skilled Worker streams (B.C.'s previous tech-priority draw structure ended 3 December 2024), AAIP Accelerated Tech Pathway, and SINP also work well — provincial nomination = +600 CRS.
Read more →Study Permits (SDS)
Study permit applications for Indian students are now processed through the regular study permit stream after the Student Direct Stream (SDS) ended on 8 November 2024. Applicants must include a valid DLI letter of acceptance, PAL/TAL where required, proof of financial support including the current IRCC living-cost figure of CAD 22,895 for a single applicant, study plan, and country-specific checklist documents. We make the SOP and supporting evidence airtight.

Bring your parents to Canada — Super Visa now (10-year multi-entry, up to 5 years per visit) and PGP when the invitation arrives. Many Indian families use both.

The high volume of Indian files at IRCC means officers see the same patterns repeatedly — and the same weaknesses. Indian applicants have strong objective qualifications on average (high education levels, strong English, robust work histories), but a recognizable cluster of issues drives most refusals.
For study permits, the SOP is the single most-scrutinized document. Officers at New Delhi are explicitly testing whether the applicant has a credible career path in India that justifies the program — not just a desire to study abroad. SOPs that read like marketing copy or use AI-generated language are flagged. We rewrite the SOP until it would pass an officer reading 80 of them in a day.
GIC documentation is generally reliable for SDS applications, but financial-proof for non-SDS regular study permits is more sensitive. Officers want a steady savings buildup, not recent large transfers. Sponsor income (typically a parent) needs to be backed by ITRs (income tax returns), bank statements covering 6 months, and a clear letter of financial support.
Express Entry reference letters from Indian employers — especially Big Four consulting and large IT services firms — are well-known to IRCC officers. Templates are recognized; deviations from the firm's typical letter format raise questions. We draft reference letters that mirror NOC TEER duty statements but remain authentic to the employer's normal practice. Pay stubs and Form 16/26AS tax statements support the work-history claim.
OINP Tech Draw eligibility is the highest-leverage strategic question for Indian software professionals — picking the right NOC code (21232 vs 21233 vs 21234) and timing the EOI submission against the next draw can make the difference between a 2-month and 12-month wait.
Visa office serving India: New Delhi (with regional VACs in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad)
All temporary resident applications from India are processed by IRCC New Delhi. PR applications follow the central federal queue, with biometrics and document submission through one of the regional Visa Application Centres (VACs).
Police certificates must be obtained through Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), and document translations from Hindi or regional languages must be certified by an authorized translator. Most professional-level documents from India are bilingual or already in English; for any in regional languages, certified English translations are mandatory.
