Frequently asked questions — Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) fees

How much does it cost to sponsor both my parents to Canada under PGP?
For two parents (no dependants): approximately CAD $85 sponsor fee + 2 × $575 principal/adult-dependant = $1,235 in IRCC application fees, plus 2 × $600 RPRF = $1,200 at COPR stage, plus 2 × $85 biometrics + 2 × $250 medical = $670. Total government and third-party: about CAD $3,100. Halani's PGP retainer is CAD $3,500–$5,000.
Do I pay anything when I express interest in sponsoring (lottery entry)?
No. The Interest-to-Sponsor lottery is free to submit. Fees only apply if you are selected and proceed with the actual application.
Will I get a refund if my PGP application is refused?
The $85 sponsor fee is non-refundable. The principal applicant and dependant processing fees are refunded if IRCC refuses the application, minus any administrative deductions. The RPRF is only paid if you reach the COPR stage, so it's refundable if the file is refused before then. Biometrics and medical fees are paid to third parties and not refunded by IRCC.
