Frequently asked questions — Super Visa documents
What does a Super Visa invitation letter need to include?
The invitation letter from the Canadian-side sponsor must include: (1) sponsor's name, address, status (citizen/PR), relationship to applicant; (2) details of the planned visit (purpose, duration, accommodation arrangement, who will provide financial support); (3) sponsor's commitment to support the parent/grandparent during the stay; (4) sponsor's signature and date. Attach the sponsor's proof of status (citizenship certificate or PR card copy), most recent NOA, employment letter, and pay stubs. The letter should be honest and specific — vague invitations fail.
How do my parents prove ties-to-home in their home country?
Strong ties-to-home documentation includes: (1) property ownership documents (registered title, property tax receipts, photos of the home if helpful); (2) ongoing employment letter from their employer (if working) or pension records (if retired); (3) other family members in the home country (especially dependants, grandchildren, siblings still there); (4) prior international travel history (UK, US, Schengen, GCC visa pages showing they returned home after previous foreign visits); (5) bank accounts and ongoing financial commitments in the home country. The strongest files include 4+ of these elements.
What medical insurance qualifies for Super Visa?
The insurance must: (1) be from a Canadian insurance company (or a foreign insurer authorized in Canada); (2) provide minimum CAD $100,000 coverage; (3) cover healthcare, hospitalization, and repatriation; (4) be valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry; (5) cover pre-existing conditions or explicitly address them. Common compliant providers: Manulife, GMS, Travelance, 21st Century, Blue Cross. Get a written confirmation from the insurer that the policy meets IRCC's Super Visa requirements.
